I woke up one morning with this poem singing in my head. It stayed a poem that had a melody only in my head as I read it for years. I finally figured out a guitar part for it at the suggestion of my wife, Barbara.

two trees

we are two trees
of the same root
you stand with me
beside cool waters
our trunks embrace
our limbs entwine
i am here for you
you are mine

we are two trees
of the same root
i am a son
you are a daughter
when evening comes
we close our eyes
and lift our hearts
up to the skies

we are two trees
of the same root
we are two trees
of the same
we are two trees
